The following dialogue is written as a script. It is based on the NIV Holy Bible version of the book of Jonah:
Jonah is the son of Amittai, an Israelite profit.
GOD
Hey Jonah! Have you heard of this great city of Nineveh. It’s on the banks of the Tigris River. Those people are pushing my buttons, and
I need you to go preach against them.
JONAH
Yeah. I wish I could, but I'm kind of busy right now God. I'm headed
to Tarshish.
EXT. COAST JOPPA- DAY TIME
Jonah walked to Joppa and stopped at its natural harbor on the Mediterranean Sea and meets up with two sailors and the captain of a shallow craft. A big violet wind caused the sea to move violently.
JONAH
Hey guys I'm Jonah I just really made my God angry, and I need a place to hide. Is it OK if I help you guys out on this ship?
CAPTAIN
Sure. I guess we could always use the extra help. The captain is slightly confused. Jonah becomes acquainted with the captain, sailor one and two. Jonah is tired from his travels and heads below deck to take a nap.
SAILOR ONE
Oh, my goodness! Look at this violence storm!
SAILOR TWO
Hurry dump the cargo into the sea we gotta lighten up this ship!
SAILOR ONE
Where the heck is Jonah?
SAILOR TWO
That dude sleeping below deck again.
CAPTAIN
OH, shiver me timbers I'll go get him!
Captain walks below deck
INT. BELOW DECK- DAY TIME
CAPTAIN
What in the world Jonah? Who has sent this ginormous storm and why are you
asleep below deck! Get up! Did you cause this trouble for us? Are you the one that is
responsible for this mess?
JONAH
Arrggg. I worship the Lord, the God in heaven. I'm pretty sure he's mad at me.
CAPTAIN
Get up Jonah we are going above deck.
Jonah gets up and follows the captain.
EXT. COAST JOPPA- DAY TIME
CAPTAIN
Jonah, where did you come from and what have you done?
JONAH
That's a long story but I don't want you guys to get hurt. Just pick me up and toss me overboard.
God will calm down. It’s not your guy’s fault.
Captain, sailor one and two pick Jonah up and toss him into the sea.
EXT. THE SEA- DUSK
Jonah is floating in the sea.
JONAH
What kind of huge fish is this?
A giant whale swallows Jonah. Inside the whale Jonah prays, and the whale thinks he is talking to him.
INT. STOMACH OF A WHALE
Jonah is sitting inside the stomach of a giant whale
JONAH
Lord! I am in a whale. I need your help!
WHALE
Yummy. What kind of help do you need? This is Whale. How can I
help you?
JONAH
Lord! I have been forsaken! This is worse than I thought.
WHALE
Yum. Tasty treat why is it that you are crying?
JONAH
I was hurled into the depths of the sea and eaten by a whale.
WHALE
This is Whale talking. Not God.
JONAH
My head was wrapped in seaweed I thought I was dead. And I was brought up from the pit of despair.
Thank you, Lord.
WHALE
You're welcome! I was happy to find a snack.
JONAH
Do you listen to the Lord?
WHALE
I shout a grateful praise for tasty snacks.
JONAH
Lord God I am sorry for turning away from your instruction. Please to the holiest of temples, from the stomach
of a whale, salvation comes from only you God!
GOD
Hey Whale! This is God speaking.
WHALE
This is Whale. How can I help you?
GOD
That snack in your stomach is not good.
WHALE
This snack makes Whale not feel good.
GOD
Yeah, he didn't listen to God. Just spit him out on dry land and I’ll take care of the rest.
EXT. SEA SHORE- NIGHTTIME
The whale vomits Jonah out onto dry land.
